AC/DC's new single "Rock'n Roll Train" has been unleashed onto the masses TODAY !! Let's make 28th of August a holiday, no? Few weeks ago they confirmed an 18 month ongoing tour, kicking off in South-America in October. It's a long way to the top if you wanna rock'n roll. Here's a hint for all you Fall Out Boy lookalikes: there's more rock'n roll in Angus Young's toe nail than in thousand Panic At The Disco shows.

Seriously, how cool is AC/DC. AC/DC can make my day any day of the week! Best band in the world? For sure! Best band...ever? For sure !!

Anyway, bookmark 20th of October in your agenda and start countdown NOW: AC/DC's new album "Black Ice" to be released. Sell your Rolling Stones ticket, get a mortgage on your house and buy as many tickets for AC/DC's tour as your bank will buy you, seeing AC/DC live might be your only moments of joy in your life.

Okay, I know I promised you some AC/DC last time, but I thought this might change your life. Take some time and think about following quote:

I read this in a great book from Andreas Eschbach. It's a thriller and it's full of Seneca quotes, a philosopher I didn't know. I was wondering how many people loose valuable time day in day out whining about how everything's better elsewhere. It's astonishing how many people don't have anything better to do than waist their life in front of their TV, waiting for the next Hilton or Britney episode. One day you'll be confronted at your doctor's office you have a serious illness and you'll die next month. You'll thank me for posting this quote !

It's been a while, I just moved into my new house. How awesome is a place of your own ! No matter where you go, what you do or when you do it, it's good to know you have a home to return to. Sounds mellow, I know, but that's just how it is (as in Biohazard's "How it is yo, it's how it is !!").

Just finished reading John Joseph's "The Evolution Of A Cro-Magnon". Finally I read the complete story about the eternal Harley-John beef. I'm awaiting Harley's rebound ! Should be a killer! Hopefully he'll leave out the Hare-Krshna stuff. Many stories have been told about the Cro-Mags, but seriously this is one of my favourite hardcore bands ever. Even their "Near Death Experience" kicks some serious ass. Let's face it, they can easily be namedropped in one line with others like Minor Threat, Bad Brains and Black Flag.

Here in Belgium hardcore seems to be splattered apart. The Bruges area is dead as a dodo, the amazing year 2004 is nothing more than a great memory and the Lintfabriek (Europe's CBGB's) is closed forever. But don't panic, don't let that eyeliner run out on your new Vans. As I wrote before on this blog, it's our duty to keep this thing alive by always looking out for new bands. There is more in your world than MTV, Falloutboy and msn.

Let me help you a bit on this one and drop some names that are worth checking out: Oathbreaker, Rhytm To The Madness, EyeSpy Records, The Reactionaries, Holy Shit Records, Union Town, Powered Records, Damaged Goods, Ieperfest, Amen Ra, Rise And Fall,.. Just google/youtube/myspace or whatever it is you do all day long behind that 17" screen, some of these names and this should give you a headstart on what hardcore today stands for in your near area. It's only a matter of time for you to find out that hardcore is the coolest thing in your fucked-up narrow minded life, and it's the only thing worth living for. Besides that place we call home offcourse...

Great bands are breaking up, minute by minute... No need to go namedropping, you know what bands I'm talking about. For some off you this urges to feel blue. Offcourse it's a closure of - yet again - a great era in hardcore land, but as some off you already figured out, hardcore bands are bound to break up within a reasonable period of time. That's about the only certainty you have when you start a hardcore band, but that's what keeps this scene alive and inspiring !

In Belgium we have had some excellent years, but the good thing about bands breaking up is that everyone of you are doing their very best - each and everyone is his own branche - to renew this feeling we call "hardcore". We owe it to ourselves to be on the lookout for new bands, for new ideas, for new records, etc... and that dynamic is what matters most. The moment you might even consider the thought "it's dead", then you're already out, because it's only up to you to stick with it!

It's time to start a zine.... how cool are fanzines !?!

Frosty weather

...makes me think about the almighty CELTIC FROST. Saw them live for the first time june 2007, what an amazing experience. Obviously this band has kicked the path for many bands to come, massive influence for almost every crossover/hardcore band for the last decade. I still have to add the "Monotheist" album to my collection, shame on me !!

Onto some great news: Rage Against The Machine is back on tour! I already bought my ticket for the show in Antwerp, maybe I'll check them out on Pinkpop too. I'm extremely curious how Zach De La Rocha and Tom Morello are doing 15 years later.

As you just read I have decided to make myself a blog, just a matter of keeping up with today's communication highway. Nah, I thought it would be cool to write down my thoughts every now and then. Sometimes it feels good to write your feelings down, to store them somewhere onto some digital package. People should take more time to express their feelings in their minute-to-minute organised life...
